Crowd Sourced Projects Blog

Crowd sourcing is, in my opinion, one of the most unique ways that a picture can be made, or a story can be told. When a crowd sourced projects are completed, there is a little something there for everyone. In this TED Talk, I thought the coolest project that was shared was the Johnny Cash music video. This is an amazing way to immortalize one of the most influential singer, songwriters in history. Every frame of the video shows something about someone who looked up to him, making it a much more impactful music video. When people are participating in crowd sourcing projects without knowing what the final product is, there can be some pretty funny results. For example, the one-hundred-dollar bill that was split into a bunch of pieces and redrawn looked odd when it was all put together in the end. I was definitely able to tell what the image was, but it was distorted, probably due to some of the participants not following their instructions. In class I really enjoyed t...

Synesthesia Blog

Synesthesia is something that I find very interesting because it makes you realize that everyone sees things differently. In Daniel Tammet’s case he sees the world in a way that not many people do, by associating things such as numbers and colors with specific shapes among other things. Personally, I feel like this would be overwhelming, constantly having to associate two seemingly unrelated things. The way I imagine it feels almost like what dreams are like, where things make little to no sense. Seeing that I don’t have synesthesia like Tammet does, I can’t really say too many things about what it would be like to live with it. Another way I can try to visualize what having synesthesia is like it by looking at art, such as the art that Tammet created. One form of art that might be even better than just a painting would be film. With film we are able to express feelings and emotions, which might make it easier for someone without synesthesia to have an idea what it w...

Week 1 Blog

Today we watched a short clip that I found very interesting in many different ways.   It was obviously originally made on film and then turned into a digital format. I’m not 100% sure what kind of film was used, but it seemed like some that is readily available for anyone to obtain. There were many different colors, patterns, and shapes throughout the film that corresponded to the type of music that was playing in the background.   Each time an instrument played a certain color and or shape would appear on the film. Whenever a new instrument was introduced I would notice that a new shape would be as well.   The film could have been considered a music video, that was in a sort of avant-garde style. I also feel like the music could have been trying to portray some sort of emotions, which is further backed by the colors, patterns and shapes shown with each sound. If it was not trying to do this I think that the creator was trying to give a visual represent...
