Project Power Rankings

1.      Earth Art Animation- This was my favorite project of the semester because I feel like I had the most fun filming it. I had a lot of fun thinking of ideas of what to do for our project and had even more fun putting the whole thing together. Also burning stuff for a class was a lot of fun. 2.      Rhythmic Edit- This was my second favorite of the projects because I also I fun filming it. Thomas and I just walked around for an hour just doing stupid stuff and filming it, and it really ended up working well. I also got the whole thing edited in a day, which is all the time I had to edit it, so I was proud of myself for that. 3.      Direct Address Video Letter- This was a lot of fun as well, not because of filming but because I really just got to show everyone what I really do while making one of my projects for the class. I also enjoyed seeing people laugh at something that I made to be funny rather than laugh at something that was not intended to be funny.

Bolex Blog

Using the Bolex for the long take was a process. I struggled a little bit to put the film in when we were practicing with it the week before the shoot, so when we actually were about to film I had one of my other group members to put the film in.   I think it is really interesting how the camera works, and would maybe look into working with similar cameras in the future. Our first go around, we filmed another group film their long take, I came up with that idea. We didn’t get to shoot from the angle we wanted to at first because the it would have been overexposed, so we found another angle to film from. After we did this we processed the film, which was the ten of the most uncomfortable minutes of my life. The black box was one of the darkest places that I have ever been. Unfortunately, something went wrong with the film and none of it developed. We then had to film again, so we filmed another group this time. We then had to go figure out the lighting again, and wait

My Personal "Rough Theater"

When you think about it, nothing in life is truly perfect. All man made things will have some sort of flaw with in it. Something that will feel strange is when a computer is used to take something not perfect, and try to make it exactly that. A good example is auto tune, yeah the pitches might be what they’re supposed to be, but at that point there is a robotic, unhuman like quality put to that sound. I know theatre and theater are two different things, but since I worked at a movie theater, I’ll be using that spelling throughout the explanation of my “Rough Theater”.   I have been to brand new theaters, and sometimes the newest ones just feel off. Everything is perfectly clean and gives off a vibe that there has not been life there before. There were no stains from sodas spilling, no dirt or grime on the projector screen. It just felt, strange. I have also been to a new theater that did its best to give itself a dated, “loved on” atmosphere. This theater
